January 2012
Hello again and a very happy new year to you all. I hope you all enjoy a very happy and relaxed Christmas.
Do you remember that the Junta had announced that their much heralded normativa would be passed before the end of the year? Well, I am writing this on the 16th of December and with 14 days to go before the end of the year nothing has happened. I am not surprised. The Junta is inefficient, inept and tired. Time for a change. This year there will be elections for the Junta. Let us hope for new government that will finally get our problems solved.
However, to most of us the normativa will make little difference without agreed PGOUs in each town. My estimate is that it will be early next year, 2013, before the towns of the Axarquia will have completed plans. 2012 promises to be a quiet year for home owners in the Axarquia.
The fact that little can be done at the moment doesn’t seem to stop lawyers from making outlandish claims. I have heard various cases of law firms telling home owners that they are able to legalise their house. They can’t in the short term. I would be very, very cautious indeed. There are lots of lawyers and not much work so they are trying as hard as they can to drum up business. A friend of mine had been asked for 12,000€ by a lawyer to legalise his house. Knowing his circumstances I have advised him to pay nothing to anyone. If you are at all concerned come and talk to us at SOHA.ES.
Finally, for those of you who are paid up members of SOHA.ES our AGM is on the 25th of January at the Camping Bar. I look forward to seeing you there.
