The tour will start at the Ermita de Nuestra Señora de Los Remedios. There is a car park there, where you should leave your car.

All around the interior of the church there are bright, modern murals, which were completed in 2010 by Evaristo Guerra, a local artist. There are also superb sea and mountain views from here.

While looking over the sea, you will hear about the strangely forgotten, but key naval battle fought off Vélez-Málaga in 1704, which secured the capture of Gibraltar for Britain.

We will then walk down to the area of San Francisco, where the Palacio del Marqués de Beniel, the Iglesia de San Francisco, the Arco Mihrab Nazari, and the Casa Cervantes are situated.

We then walk up again to our cars, and drive to the castle, where you can climb to the top of the tower for even more impressive views. This means climbing four flights of twenty steps spiralling around a pillar. There is, however, a small room at each landing, where you can catch your breath.

Finally we will walk down into the old quarter of the town to visit the Church of Santa Maria de La Encarnación, where a short video on the history of the Semana Santa will be shown to you.

A three course lunch will follow at the excellent Day Centre for Senior Citizens.

To make your way back up to your cars, you can wait to be escorted by the least steep route, or make your own way. There are no car parking fees at the suggested car parks.
