Councils under pressure to reduce the IBI tax

Property owners in Alhaurín de la Torre have received IBI bills which are considerably higher than before, because the revised rateable values of their homes are now being applied. In some cases the IBI has nearly tripled, from 490 euros a year to 1,300 euros, and many local householders have signed a petition expressing their disagreement with the increase, which will be presented to the mayor of the municipality, Joaquín Villanova.
