Junta set to modify key planning rule that could legalise majority of properties

The Junta de Andalucía is poised to change planning rules that could result in the legalisation of the majority of illegal properties in some provinces in the region, Costa Almería News can reveal.

A close PSOE party source interviewed by this paper has said the regional government intends to time-bar ‘parcelisations’ – the illegal division of non-urban land to build on, which in the Almanzora valley is thought to affect some 1,500, mostly expat-owned, homes. In Albox alone 98 per cent of illegal properties are believed to be the result of ‘parcelisations’.
